HM10® Max is a performance additive (a calcium carbonate based
polyolefin concentrate) manufactured by Heritage Plastics using a
process designed for maximized efficiencies to reduce the carbon
footprint of a wide variety of plastic products. According to a
recent Life Cycle Analyses (LCAs) by Boustead Consulting &
Associates Ltd., its use in PE film extrusion lowered emissions and
reduced energy consumption.
“…Heritage
Plastics innovative technology with its performance additive-calcium
carbonate (HM10® Max) demonstrates their ability to significantly
reduce anthropogenic GHGs and regional air pollutants (NOx, SOx, and
particulates) including significant energy benefits.”
- Bernard R. Yaros, vice president of Boustead
Consulting & Associates Ltd.
“Replacing a portion of the plastics
with
a natural mineral like calcium carbonate can make a more
environmentally friendly bag by reducing carbon emissions as well as
reducing the amount of energy
required
to make the bag, ”
- Holly Hansen, VP Technical
Services at Heritage Plastics.
The report also concludes customers
will enjoy significantly lower material costs while meeting the
innovative requirements sought by the EPA and the DOE.
