  • Reduced warpage

Product Description

PolyMax™ CaCO3 concentrates are designed to improve the performance of blow molding applications. PolyMax™ concentrates contain 76%-80% of fine ground, surface treated CaCO3 combined with various polyolefin carrier resins.

Products Available

PolyMax LC 80% CaCO3 in LLDPE for balanced cost & performance.

PolyMax HD 76% CaCO3 in HDPE to maintain stiffness and top load.

Typical usage levels of PolyMax™ CaCO3 concentrates: 10-20%

What to Expect During Processing

No temperature changes are needed. Lower extrusion amps and pressure due to lower melt viscosity are often observed. Minor adjustments to the shot size may be required to compensate for extended parison. Final part appearance will be relatively unaffected:
> Un-pigmented parts will appear uniformly white
> Colored parts may require reformulation of color maserbatch
> PolyMax™ concentrates can be added using standard additive
   feeders

Productivity Gains

A major advantage of PolyMax™ concentrates is their ability to increase the thermal conductivity of the part in blow molding processes. Addition of mineral results in cooler parts; cycle times can be reduced, sometime by as much as 30%. The final bottle or part will have significantly less warping, even at the reduced cycle time.

Physical Property Improvements

PolyMax™ increases part density based on loading level. Part weight should be maintained to maximize material cost savings. The reduction in wall thickness required to maintain part weight is 5-11% depending on amount of PolyMax™ used. This will result in:
> Impact and top load strength unaffected
> ESCR improved (Stress Crack Resistance)
> Part will feel stiffer
> Warpage reduced
